22 “air suspension (LFA) control unit” This slot was vacant on my panel but called for a 10 A fuse, which I placed on the circuit, while fusing the garmin side with the 3 A fuse.įor Accessory power, I used S15. I used a 3 A fuse for the Garmin dash cam side, and I added fuses to the vacant slots as they were listed in the owner’s manualįor continuous 12 V, I am using S14. ![]() Thanks as alwaysĬlick to expand. The fuse taps I used have 2 blade fuse inputs one is for the circuit being tapped into, and one is for the new load being added. I am going to be researching for these answers myself, but went ahead and posted them in case anyone who already knows can enlighten me. These questions are motivated by a foggy memory that draining the type of battery used in the sprinter kills it, and that they are expensive to replace. So my question is: how would you test how much power the dash cam is consuming on average, on a per hour basis (where it is parked, it is likely to detect a lot of cars driving by), and how would you determine whether you would leave the dash cam always in parking mode (relying on the camera to shut itself off if battery gets low), or whether you set the parking mode to power completely off after a certain amount of hours? In parking mode, it records 30 second files when it detects motion or impacts. I ended up using empty/ unused fuse slots in the fuse panel under the passenger foot rest because of ease of access, and the parking mode cable and dash cam are functioning as they should, post install.Īccording to Garmin, the parking mode cable will turn the dash cam completely off when it detects the battery has reached a certain level in order to ensure the battery is never drained beyond the ability to start. My main question for the forum is how does disconnecting the battery effect the ASSYST system's understanding of the countdown to service intervals? Is this an issue I shouldn't worry about, or should I take notes of the ASSYST recommendations prior to disconnecting and then compare them after reconnecting the battery?Īlso, if anyone has any general advice or words of wisdom related to this install, they are always appreciated. ![]() I will disconnect the battery before installing this cable, and I am of the understanding that I am supposed to wait at least 15 minutes after the Sprinter is turned off before disconnecting the battery. ![]() I am planning to tap into empty fuse slots on one of my 2019's two fuse panels, in case anyone has any suggestions on exactly which I should use. The parking mode cable has 3 leads a ground, a 12 v battery, and an accessory. I am going to install a Garmin parking mode cable, so that my dash cam will have the ability to record when it detects vibration, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.
